Test Retakes

I wanted to let everyone know that students are allowed to retake any test or quiz.  You may stay with the flight program or make an appointment with me.  I also am available every Wednesday after school to tutor.
We have several that have taken advantage of this.  Please make sure that you study your old test before you stay for a retake!!

7th Grade Math - New Quiz Policy

I'm starting a new quiz policy for my 7th Grade Math class.  After we take our homework grade and go over the answers to the problems we will take a daily quiz.  This quiz will consist of 5 problems from the homework assignment.  They will be 10 point quizzes.  This will make sure that everyone understands the importance of completing homework, and paying attention when we go over the correct answers.  It will also allow me to correct any common mistakes I see occurring.  Make sure you are doing your homework!!!!

Science Animal Brochure and Food Webs are in and Graded

Tomorrow, I'll be handing back the scored Brochure and Food Webs.  I was really impressed with how well the students did on this project.  Ask to see them if they don't normally show you their work. These were recorded on the 1st nine weeks, so they are a part of the grade you will see on your child's report card.  Report cards were mailed out today.

8th Graders have started Dance Class!!

     We have started to learn the elements of dance and we'll start dancing Friday.  Friday the entire class period will be devoted to learning a country line dance.   Wednesday during club time the remaining students and I practiced the "Boot Scootin Boogie" and had a good time.  Next week will be my last week with this group of students.  We will have a movie and party day on Thursday and Friday to celebrate our dancing experience. Dance and Drama

For the next 7 days the music and art classes will be studying dance and drama.
8th graders will study dance we will end the week by learning a few steps of salsa and a country line dance. 
7th graders will study drama we will end this week by acting out a few scenes from a play.

7th Grade Math Test

Wednesday we will finish the Chapter 1 Math Test.  Today the seventh grade was MAP Testing.  Students make sure you are studying Page 67 odds that we went over last week.  Those are the types of problems and concepts you will be tested over.

Animal Brochure and Food Web

During our ecology unit we will be designing an animal brochure and food web.  Students were given packets explaining the project and a scoring guide.  Our first day working in the computer lab was Friday, September 2, 2011.  We will definitely have 3 possibly 4 more days in the computer lab to complete this project.  If more time is needed, students may stay after school on Wednesdays.

Wednesday tutoring and test policy.

We will go over the Chapter 1 test and open response in 8th  grade science class tomorrow.  If your child is not satisfied with their test grade they may retake the test next Wednesday after school.   I will average the old and new test.  This will be announced tomorrow. 

I am available every Wednesday after school until 4:15, to help students.  If your child is absent or doesn't understand something they can stay after and receive help.  This is also the time I will schedule test retakes as previously mentioned.

First two weeks of school Completed!!!!! Some missing assignments.

     We are settling into our routine now, and most everyone has the hang of it.   There are some students who are having difficulty turning in homework on time.  They may turn it in the next day, but then it is only for 1/2 credit.  This weekend I'm finishing up grading test, open response and late homework.  On Monday I'll be printing out missing assignment reports and sending them home to be signed.  I will also call the parents of students who are receiving these to let them know that they are on the way.  Hopefully we can get these students organized and late homework will not be a problem anymore.  Have a great weekend!!

Tardies and Late Work

Everyone appears to be getting to class on time now. Good Job!!
We are having a problem with late work, use your agenda.  If you don't have one its an excellent way to keep up with assignments.

First Week of School

The first week of school is almost over, and everyone appears to be settling in.  Please remember that on Monday of next week, the late work policy and tardy policy will begin.  Have a good weekend

School Supplies

I hope everyone had a wonderful first day of school.  Please try to have the supplies listed on the class syllabus in class by at least Wednesday, August 10th.  We will need them on that day.  If you have trouble finding any of the supplies please let me know and I'll help you. 

Welcome Back!!!!!!

I'm so excited to start the 2011-2012 school year.  This is my first year back since taking time off to start a family.  I'm thrilled to be a part of Hickman County High School.  If I can be of any assistance to you please feel free to contact me.
